Cleveland- The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame’s 27th Annual Induction Ceremony will
take place at Cleveland’s historic Public Hall on Saturday, April 14, 2012 and
be celebrated by more than a week of events for fans, including a live
simulcast of the Induction Ceremony at the Museum. The Rock Hall is excited to
announce numerous public events scheduled for 2012 Induction Week in Cleveland.

Cleveland’s annual celebration of the first rock and roll concert featuring special guest Lance Freed (Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee Alan Freed’s son) and performances by Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee Sam Moore, Creedence Clearwater Revisited (including Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees), KC and the Sunshine Band and Mickey Dolenz of the Monkees. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum partners with the Grog Shop to present Girl Talk live at Public Hall. Tickets are $12 and go on sale to Rock Hall members on Wednesday, February 22 and to the general public on Thursday, February 23 at www.ticketweb.com.
With his live shows described as “the craziest house party ever,” Gregg Gillis (who attended Case Western Reserve University) – best known by his stage name Girl Talk – continues to bring audiences across the world to their feet (and sometimes to the stage) with his dance track mashups and high energy performances. From performing at the Vancouver Olympics to playing music festivals such as Coachella, Austin City Limits, Bonnaroo, Lollapalooza, V-Fest, Sasquatch, Rothbury, Monolith, Planeta Terra and headlining gigs in Australia, Japan, South America, Europe and Mexico, Girl Talk has still found time to record and release his fifth album, All Day.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum will honor Kirk Franklin in a tribute to rock’s gospel roots. Franklin will perform and various artists including Fred Hammond, Donnie McClurkin and church ensembles from across Cleveland will honor him through music. Special guest Daymond John will emcee. This event is free but a general admission ticket is necessary. Tickets will be available for Rock Hall members on Monday, March 5 and to the general public on Tuesday, March 6 at www.playhousesquare.org.
Kirk
Franklin’s 1993 debut album, Kirk Franklin and the Family, was the first
gospel album in history to sell more than one million records. To date, the
contemporary gospel artist has won seven GRAMMY® Awards, an American Music
Award, 35 Stellar Awards, 12 Dove Awards (CCM), five NAACP Awards, two BET
Music Awards, a Soul Train Award and more. Franklin is also the host and
co-executive producer of the BET original series, Sunday Best, the
network's first gospel talent competition.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum will unveil its newest special exhibit, The Grateful Dead: The Long, Strange Trip. The exhibit will explore the band from the perspectives of recording artists and a touring group, the fans that devotedly followed them and fellow travelers. It will include finished and working manuscripts for classic songs, handwritten notes from legendary tapers Dick Latvala and Owsley “Bear” Stanley, Bill Graham’s “Father Time” robe and the Grateful Dead Hotline answering machine. The exhibit will be open through December 2012.

Additional artists to be named soon.
This event is free but a ticket is necessary for admission. Other than at Public Hall, the simulcast will be the only place to watch the Induction Ceremony live on the night of the event. Tickets to the Induction Simulcast are $20 and go on sale to Rock Hall members on Monday, February 27 and to the general public on Tuesday, February 28 at https://tickets.rockhall.com and at the Rock Hall Box Office.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Cuyahoga Community College will
dedicate its Library and Archives, the world’s most comprehensive repository of
written and audiovisual materials relating to the history of rock and roll. The
Library and Archives collects, preserves, and provides access to these
resources in order to educate people about rock and roll, its roots, and its
impact on society. Having opened its doors in early 2012 in downtown Cleveland,
the institute serves the needs of scholars, educators, students, the media, and
the general public. This event is not

Who would they choose to induct into their own Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and why? The goal is to teach students to develop the ability to make aesthetic judgments, to understand the aesthetic standards of others, and to learn to present a persuasive case about their choices. These goals are key to education content standards around the country – in the arts and across the curriculum. This event is free, but spaces are limited. About the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum
The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum, Inc. is the nonprofit organization that exists to educate visitors, fans and scholars from around the world about the history and continuing significance of rock and roll music. It carries out this mission through its operation of a world-class museum that collects, preserves, exhibits and interprets this art form and through its library and archives as well as its educational programs.
The Museum is open seven days a week from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. On Wednesdays (and Saturdays through Labor Day), the Museum is open until 9 p.m. Museum admission is $22 for adults, $18 for adult residents of Greater Cleveland, $17 for seniors (65+), $13 for youth (9-12), children under 8 and Rock Hall members are always free, for information or to join the membership program call 216. 515.8425.
